Recommended settings

• When ready for forums: activate everything except Email Invites and Media Uploading
• Settings – General:
  • Allow members to delete their profiles
  • Show the toolbar for logged-in admins
  • DISABLE: show the toolbar for logged-in members (non-admins)
  • DISABLE: show the toolbar for logged-out users
  • Registration:
    • Allow non-members to register new accounts
    • Registration form: Custom URL = https://<site>.randonneur.app/pre-register
  • Privacy: UNCHECK Restrict REST API access to only logged-in members
• Settings – Profiles:
  • Display name format = First Name
  • Display Name Fields = First Name, Last Name, Nickname
  • Profile Links – Link Format = Username
  • Profile Avatars = BuddyBoss
  • Allow members to upload a profile avatar
• Integrations – reCaptcha: use v3, network admin keys
  • CHECK: enabled for: Login, Registration, Reset Password, Account Activation
• Settings – Groups
  • DISABLE: social group creation by all members
  • ENABLE: allow for sending group messages to group members
  • ENABLE: allow members to subscribe to groups
  • ENABLE: avatars for groups (Group Name as default)
  • ENABLE: cover images for groups (None as default)
  • ENABLE: group types to better organize groups
  • ENABLE: allow selected profile types to automatically join groups
  • DISABLE: allow groups to have subgroups
  • Group directories: Grid & List; default = Grid
  • Group types: disable group types and auto membership approval

  • Hide Forum Roles near the bottom

  • Edit activity comments: ENABLE, 1 hour
  • Activity tabs: ENABLE display activity in separate tabs based on activity type
  • Posts in activity feed
    • DISABLE: member changes their profile photo
    • DISABLE: member updates their profile details
    • DISABLE: group details are updated
    • ENABLE: WordPress Posts

• Settings – Notifications
  • DISABLE: A group’s details are updated
  • Delay notifications for 5 mins

  • Photos: check all except messages
  • Upload size: 10MB
  • Upload limit: 10 per batch
  • Documents: uncheck all, upload size = 10MB, 10 per batch
  • Videos: uncheck all, upload size = 100MB, 2 per batch
  • Emoji: check all

  • Enable reactions: activity posts AND activity comments
• Settings – Moderation
  • ENABLE: allow members to block other members
  • ENABLE: allow members to report other members
  • ENABLE: auto suspend after 3 blocks & reports
  • ENABLE: notify administrators when members have been automatically suspended
  • Content reporting: ENABLE all & auto hide after 2 reports
  • ENABLE: notify administrators when content has been automatically hidden

  • Check: Members, Forums, Discussions, Replies, Groups, Activity, Activity Comments, Blog Posts, Pages, Media, Rides
  • Uncheck: everything else
  • Autocomplete: enable, 5 results
